Checkers unblocked: play Checkers online free right here in your browser — no download, no sign-up, works on a school Chromebook.

Checkers brings the classic two-player strategy board game directly to the browser with clean graphics and instant responsiveness. While Riddle School is famous for point-and-click humor and story-driven room escapes, Checkers provides a pure tactical challenge focused entirely on foresight, positioning, and board control. It serves as an engaging mental break when you want a deliberate contest of skill without time pressure.

Every match takes place on an eight-by-eight grid of alternating dark and light squares, with each player commanding twelve pieces on their starting rows. The rules are elegant and timeless: move across the dark tiles, leap over rival pieces to capture them, and aim to either clear the board or leave your opponent with zero legal moves. Because all pieces remain visible throughout the match, success depends entirely on planning multiple moves ahead and anticipating your opponent's counterattacks.

How to play

Click or tap a piece on your turn to view its valid destination squares, then select an open tile to make your move. Standard pieces can only move forward diagonally by one square into an adjacent unoccupied dark tile. When an enemy piece sits directly diagonally adjacent to yours and has an empty space immediately behind it, you must jump over the piece to capture and remove it from play.

If your landing spot sets up another valid jump over an additional enemy checker, you can chain multiple jumps together in a single turn. Moving any standard piece all the way to the opponent's back row crowns that piece as a King. Kings are distinguished by a special crown marker and gain the powerful ability to move and capture backward as well as forward across the board.

Strategy and tips

Protect your baseline during the early and mid stages of the match. Keeping your back row of checkers intact prevents your opponent from sneaking a piece through to claim an early King.

Dominate the central dark squares. Pieces anchored near the middle of the board enjoy maximum diagonal mobility and control key lanes, whereas pieces trapped along the outer edges have limited movement options and fewer escape routes.

Set strategic bait and forced trades. Giving up a single piece can lure your opponent into an awkward position that leaves them vulnerable to a multi-jump capture or clears a path for your own checkers to advance.

Questions about Checkers

Is Checkers unblocked at school?

Checkers runs in an ordinary browser tab from riddleschool.org, with nothing to download or install, so it plays on most school Chromebooks and work computers. If a network filter blocks the site, only that network's administrator can change it.

How do pieces move and capture in Checkers?

Pieces move diagonally forward one square onto open dark tiles. If an opposing piece is adjacent with an empty space behind it, you jump over it to capture.

How do you get a King in Checkers?

When a regular piece reaches the farthest row on the opponent's side of the board, it is crowned a King and gains the ability to move and jump both forward and backward.

Can Checkers be played on mobile and Chromebooks?

Yes. Checkers runs directly in any modern HTML5 web browser and supports both mouse clicks and touchscreen taps without requiring any downloads.

What is the main objective to win a match?

You win a game of Checkers by capturing all of your opponent's pieces or by blocking them so they have no legal moves left on their turn.
