This is Riddle School unblocked: the original point-and-click game runs above on Ruffle, served from riddleschool.org itself, so it plays in an ordinary browser tab on a school Chromebook or laptop. It is free, with no download and no account, and the sequels are one click away.

Riddle School: a small point-and-click game about skipping class

Riddle School is a point-and-click adventure made by JonBro, who drew it, animated it and programmed it himself. Its own Fun Facts screen says it took three weeks and has 99 library items and seven characters. You play Phil, a round-headed kid in a green sweater. When the game opens he has been listening to addition facts for two hours straight, and he wants out.

Everything is done with the mouse. Click a speech balloon to hear the next line. Click something in the room and Phil tells you what he thinks of it, or does something with it. Items you pick up go into four inventory slots at the bottom left, and you use one by clicking it there. Red labels at the edges of the screen (North, South, East, West) take you to the next room, and a small map at the top right fills in as you explore.

The first room is Mister Kahm's class. Mathness is written on the blackboard over a sum that does not add up. The way out is a small thing on the teacher's desk. After that the school opens up into a corridor of lockers: Ms. Cophey's room, a drinking fountain, the janitor's closet, the men's room, and Richy the hall guard, who will not let you past without a hall pass.

How to think like Riddle School

  1. Keep your hands off the keyboard: The Instructions screen warns you in capitals: press any key during play and the game restarts. Keep your hand on the mouse.
  2. Click everything, twice: Most of the game is Phil commenting on what you click. Some comments are only jokes and some are clues, and a thing that did nothing at first can matter once you hold the right item.
  3. Look at the teacher's desk: The first puzzle is solved from the front of Mister Kahm's room, not from Phil's desk.
  4. Read the signs: Doors are labelled, and the one over Mister Kahm's door is a joke on its own. Names on doors tell you who is behind them before you knock.
  5. Richy wants paperwork: The hall guard sends you back without a hall pass. Stop arguing with him and go find one.
  6. Use the map: The map at the top right is two rows of rooms. The square that lights up is where you are. Dark squares are rooms you have not seen yet.

Key features

  • The original: Riddle School by JonBro, in its original Flash file, played through Ruffle and served from this domain.
  • Mouse only: Point-and-click from start to end. No typing and no timers. The keyboard is only a way to restart by accident.
  • A whole school: A classroom, a corridor of lockers, labelled doors, a hall guard and a map that fills in as you walk.
  • The whole series: Riddle School 2, 3, 4 and 5, Riddle Transfer and Riddle Transfer 2 are served here too, on the same Ruffle.
  • Short and replayable: The first game is a short sit. It is an easy start before the longer sequels.
  • Credits intact: Music by Pepsileo and Cheshyre, inspiration credited to Tom Fulp, all on the game's own Credits screen.

What is Riddle School?

A point-and-click escape game by JonBro. You play Phil, who wants out of school: talk to people, click the scenery, collect items and use them to get from Mister Kahm's class out of the building.

How do you play Riddle School?

With the mouse only. Click balloons to advance dialogue, click objects to make Phil react, click an item to collect it and click it again in the inventory to use it. The red labels move you between rooms.

Why did my game restart?

You pressed a key. The Instructions screen warns that any key press during gameplay restarts the game.

Are the sequels here?

Yes. Riddle School 2, 3, 4 and 5, Riddle Transfer and Riddle Transfer 2 each have their own page on this site, served from here on the same Ruffle player.
